Like Propaganda and World Card, Presidents is a "reading game." Students sit in groups of three or four for purposes of checking each other's answers and keeping score.
A reader reads a series of three clues about one of the presidents, pausing after each clue.
* A player who can identify the president after the first clue scores
3 points.
* A player guessing the president after two clues earns 2 points.
* If three clues are needed, the player scores 1 point.
* A player whose answer is incorrect scores 0.
When all three clues have been read, players reveal their answers (which cannot be changed after they have been written). After the reader announces the correct answer, scores are recorded. A round consists of 10 questions.
Students are provided some assistance in identifying the presidents. Before each question, the reader announces the range of presidents which will contain the correct answer; for example, presidents 1-11. While listening to the clues, players may study a chart, called a gazeteer listing each president's name, political party, dates in office, year and state of birth, and year of death. Often one of the clues refers to this information, which gives players practice in drawing conclusions from printed data.
